Donald Robert Waller
Born: 17-Jun-1931
Died: 16-Sep-2002 Mr. Don Waller, 71, of Plano, passed away Sept. 16, 2002, in Plano. He was born on June 17, 1931, in Sandstone, MN to Edmund Henry and Mary Magdalene Sophia (Vanderschaegen) Waller. He married Joyce Marie Ottaway on Aug. 23, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Mr. Waller graduated from the University of Iowa College of Engineering and retired from Rockwell International in 1991 after 30 years of employment holding various positions in engineering and management. Throughout his career with Rockwell, Don was active in Rockwell's involvement with the United Way and was a member of the National Management Association serving at one time as the Vice President of Youth Activities.
He was a member of the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano. Mr. Waller served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Civic duty was important to Mr. Waller. He served his community as past member of Plano Parks and Recreation Board, Collin County Open Spaces Board, Transportation Advisory Committee and past president of City of Plano Swimmers. He was an active member of the Collin County Republican Men's Club.
He is survived by his sons, John and Dr. Thomas Waller; daughter, Mary Waller; grandchildren, Jill and Matt Waller, all of Plano; mother, Mary Waller; brothers, Charles and Gary Waller, all of Ankeny, IA; and sisters, Barbara Andrews of Iowa City, IA and JoAnn Waller of Sigourney, IA. Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his father and infant sister, Shirley.
