Michael VanDerSchaegen Male

Born: 14-Jul-1906
Died: 29-Sep-1994   Born in Iron Belt, WI  Iron County
As a child, he spent 4 years in a TB sanitarium at Walker, MN. While in the Sanitarium, his parents moved to Cloverdale, and Mike joined them later, attending school through the 8th grade.  He died in the Sandstone hospital. He had attained the age of 88 years, 2 months and 15 days.

Occupation: He lived in Shakapee, Orchard Gardens, Cloverdale and Sandstone around 1928.

A farmer in the early years, He labored for the village of Sandstone and was a Marshall.
He worked on a survey crew for the MNDOT and the State hospitals at Sandstone and Cambridge, retiring as a psychiatric aide,  in 1968.

Then for a while  he drove ambulance for Hospital in Sandstone.

Comments: He played the drums, consertina & mouth organ for dances when he was younger.

He loved pitching baseball, was a champion horseshoe pitcher, won local tournaments in golf, did well in bowling and loved sports of all kinds.

His mother called him Cocha.(my spelling, Pete)
The following is from Johan Verplancke: The Dutch word "Kootje", would sound like "Cocha".  "Kootje" is a diminutive used in Dutch when you address to a little child (like 'baby' or
'honey' ...); sometimes "Pieteko" or "Pietekootje" are also used.
