Florence Marie Fredrica Johnson 
Born: 30-Jun-1914Died: 24-Mar-2008 Florence passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Fairview-Southdale Hospital in Bloomington, Minnesota. She was born June 30, 1914 at Sandstone, Minnesota to Frank and Svea (Nelson) Johnson. She grew up in Sandstone and graduated from Sandstone High School in 1932. On May 12, 1934, she married Wilbert (Bill) VanDerSchaegen and they made their home in the Sandstone community. Florence was a homemaker and also worked as the housekeeping supervisor at the Sandstone Hospital for 12 years. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church and regularly participated in church activities. She also enjoyed baking and being with her family. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Leo VanDerSchaegen; her mother, Svea (Nelson) Johnson; her father Frank Johnson; her step-father, Verner Nelson and one brother, Adler Johnson. She is survived by her children, Vernon (Barb) VanDerSchaegen, Karen (Lowell) Berg and Dennis (Mary) VanDerSchaegen; four grandchildren, Jay (Lisa) Bloom, Rick (Indra) Bloom, Lori (Brian) Vannelli and Dennis VanDerSchaegen, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Florence Marie VanDerSchaegen were held Saturday, March 29, 1008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sandstone with Pastor Henry French officiating. Soloist was Anna Goyette and organist was Michelle Gregg. Casketbearers were Brian Vannelli, Steven Vannelli, Dennis VanDerSchaegen, Jr., Tom Johnson and Jay Bloom. Interment at Spring Park Cemetery in Sandstone, Minnesota. Arrangements by Methven Funeral Home, Sandstone, MN.
