The following is from Mark Kulstad:

The book includes Phyllis Regina Vanderschaegen (Kulstad) on p. 211, where the family tree of she and her husband, Lauritz Steen Kulstad, begins.  What the book does is to go back to the great-great-grandmother (the Maria ... in the title of the book) of Lauritz Kulstad and trace out her immediate family and (the bulk of the book) all, or virtually all, of her direct descendants.  She was the first Kulstad to be both born on the original Kulstad homestead in Norway (which I have visited, and which still has direct Kulstad descendants living on it) and to live to have descendants.  Her father had purchased the property, in Vuku, not far from Verdal, on the Trondheimfjord, somewhat late in his life.
