He died Monday, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Ogden, with military graveside rites conducted by the Boone Veteran's Council.
His parents were John and Olga (Hanson) Burt. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1949 then served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
After returning home from the army Bill drove for Wenger Truck Line for several years. He then worked as a mechanic and shop foreman at DeWitt Implement. Bill then returned to farming until retiring in 2004.
Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. He loved to garden, fish, hunt and spend time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Burt of Ogden; children, Billy (Denise) Burt of Ogden, Ric (Jackie) Burt of Stratford, and Brenda (Dennis) Clark of Shawnee, KS; seven grandchildren, Angie, Eric, Tyler, Thayne and Malorie Burt and Shawn and Breanna Clark; one great grandson, Carter John; his brother and best friend, Bob (Betty) Burt of Ogden; four sisters, Phyllis Buckley of Ogden, Mary Ann (Kenny) Haleen of Boxholm, Kay (Bernie) Miller of California, and Alice Barnett of Ogden
