AD 1814 November 14th, at 11:00 AM, before us, Eugene Amand Melsens, assistant mayor, charged to take care of the registry office of the village of Wingene, district of Ruiselede, department of the river Leie, has appeared Amand Vanderschaege, 30 years old, born in Wingene, farmer, living there who has presented us a male child born yesterday at 11:00 PM; a child of him and Thérese Hoste, 29 years old, born in Ruiselede his wife.  He declared he wanted to give the baby as first name Louis.  These declaration and presentation was witnessed by Augustin Hoste, 64 years old, farmer at Ruiselede, and Bernard Willemyns, 31 years old, taylor at Wingene.  The witnesses signed the birth certificate after it had been read to them.  The father of the child declared he couldn't sign.
