Comments: Circle Pines Man Wins $77,777 Lottery Prize

MARCH 7, 2011 — Bob Hunt stopped to buy some Lottery tickets on his way to work on Friday morning (March 4). The Circle Pines resident had $11 in winnings from a previous purchase, which he used to buy two 7s to Win! tickets. “I scratched the tickets in the car,” Hunt recalled.

On one of the tickets he scratched the first roll on the dice game and revealed a 6 and a 1 for a total of 7, and the prize of $77,777. “I thought, ‘You’ve got to be kidding! This isn’t true.’”

Hunt asked a couple of his co-workers to look at the ticket to verify that he won $77,777. “I asked a co-worker to look at it. I said, ‘I can’t believe this is a winner — look at the bottom and compare it to what I have.’ He said, ‘I can’t believe it either,’ so I asked another co-worker.” Hunt’s final step was to call his wife, telling her, “You aren’t going to believe this!”

Hunt claimed the prize on March 4. The winning ticket was purchased at Stop-N-Shop, 1700 E. Lake St. in Minneapolis.
