Ida Elsa Eilo

Ida Elsa VanDerSchaegen, age 78, of Montreal, died September 4th in Montreal.
She was born June 2, 1916 in Iron Belt, daughter of Nick and Ida Eilo.
She attended Iron Belt schools and graduated from the Iron Belt High School.
She was employed as a librarian at the Montreal Library for many years and also at Mrofchak's Clothing Store in Ironwood as a seamstress.
She was a member of the Ironwood VFW Auxiliary Post 1823, and was the
present Post Trustee. She-enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, flowers, gardening and crossword puzzles.
In 1935, she was married to Rodney (Chris) Hughes in Florence, Wisconsin
She was also married to Rudolph VanDerSchaegen on August 17, 1945 in Montreal. He preceded her in death November 1, 1982.
She is survivedby two sons, Rodney (Chris) Hughes of Minneapolis and Tony (Mert) VanDerSchaegen of Green Bay: five daughters, Mrs. Rudy (Diane) VukeIich of Ironwood, Mrs. Bill (Rebecca) Marvin of Waseca, Minnesota, Mrs. Bill (Nancy) Leavitt of Alexandria, Minnesota, Mrs. John (Roberta) Kangas of Montreal and Mrs. Curt (Cindy) Hauser of Andover, Minnesota, a brother, Verner Eilo of Iron Belt, six sisters, Irene Levra, Ina Eilo, Irga Juntti, Ivy Krankkala and Inga (Guido) Morello, all of Iron Belt, and Impi Johnson of Montreal, 22 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rudolph Scott; three brothers, Oscar, Sulo and Nester, two sisters, Ilona Krankkala and Ida, in infancy and a grandson.
Funeral services were held at a the Engstrom Funeral Horne, Hurley, on Sept. 7, the Rev. Thomas Kuusisto officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt. Engstrom Funeral Home, Hurley, was in charge of-arrangements.
Comments: Ida also had two children from a previous marriage to Roy Hughes.
Dinah(Diane) Hughes and Rodney Hughes.
Dinah married Rudy Vukelich and had 5 children - Rory, Bart, Brad, Krystal and Heidi. Dinah passed away on 26/Oct/2004 from ovarian cancer.
Rodney Hughes also passed away in 2004 and was father to approx. 11 children.
