He was born at Ruddervoorde on 03/02/1796 and was the son of Petrus DeVos and Veronica Vanhove.  The same day he was baptized.  His certificate of baptism is in Latin, so I use the Latin first name.  Petrus DeVos signed the certificate of baptism as “pieter de vos”, so he used the Flemish and Dutch translation of his first name instead of the Latin version.  According to this certificate Petrus DeVos was abt. 49 years and his wife abt. 34 years old.

Born at Ruddervoorde.
His birth certificate is in French, so I use the French first name Jacques (that’s also the first name used in the birth certificate) instead of the Dutch translation Jacobus.  According to this certificate Franciscus DeVos was abt. 20 years and his wife abt. 21 years old.  The profession of Franciscus DeVos was “tonnelier” (French word for the craftsman who made barrels, but I don’t know the English word ?).  The profession of Anna VanEenoo was “fileuse”  (French word for the woman who worked with the spinning wheel : which is the English word ?).  Franciscus DeVos signed the certificate with “franciscus de vos”.
